WIU's Upcoming Livestock Contest

Tuesday, April 03, 2018

Western Illinois University

I was asked to send this out on behalf of Dr. Mark Hoge:

Dear Agriculture Instructors,

I wanted to make all programs that are interested in participating in our WIU Spring FFA contest held this Friday, April 6th of a couple of important updates.

1st - We have purchased a scantron machine and plan to use to score our contest.  This should eliminate the delay or the inability to accurately and efficiently score this years contest.  I know this has been a problem in the past but we have invested in the technology to effectively score the contest.  Please have students bring #2 pencils to fill out their scantron sheet.

2nd - In order to make Friday morning registration go as smooth as we can, we ask that all instructors that are planning on bringing students to our contest, provide an email to me by 4pm this Thursday.  The email will include a roster of the students to be participating in the contest.  Please have the students listed by team.  Each team will consist of 4 members. This will allow us to have contestant numbers and team numbers pre assigned.  My email is

Team 1

john smith

sally baker

betty wilder

mark taylor

Team 2

john jones

sally jones

dalton smith

tyler wallace

3rd -  For Friday's contest there will only be one division.  Saturday, McDonough county is hosting a 4-H contest at WIU and there will be a junior and senior division.

As in the past, here will be 10 classes (3 Keep Cull, 7 placing, 3 sets of questions) of high quality livestock capably officiated.  We at WIU, are committed to having the highest quality contests that we can host.  Please join us for a positive experience.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to call or text me at 309-255-2735.

Thank you
