The Blue Room: Special Event at National FFA Convention

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Sent to High School Ag Teachers

Message sent on behalf of Blaze Currie, Team Leader for the Leadership, Education, Assessment & Development (LEAD) Division of the National FFA Organization.

The Blue Room

All are welcome to attend an experience at the National FFA Convention and Expo designed for advisors and FFA members who are interested in learning about cutting-edge technology and future careers in agriculture.

What? The Blue Room is an interactive and engaging experience focused on technology and innovation in agriculture. Attendees will hear presentations from industry leaders, engage with interactive booths, and learn about the latest trends, technologies, and careers in agriculture.

When? There are 9 sessions. Each session is 90 minutes.
Wed – 12pm & 2pm; Thu – 8am, 10am, 1pm & 3pm; Fri – 8am, 10am & 1pm.

Where? The 500 ballroom of the Indiana Convention Center (ICC).

Registration? There is no registration required; this is not a ticketed event. The Welcome Room (500 ballroom reception) will open 1 hour before each session. First-come, first served. The Welcome Room will have Microsoft touch-screen kiosks, giveaways, activities, and a raffle before each session for a chance to win a Microsoft Surface Go.

Is this for advisors or students? Both! Activities will be designed for students, but the technology, innovations, and future careers highlighted in presentations and showcased in booths can be a valuable teaching tool. Advisors should check out the FFA booth within the Blue Room to learn about some new resources and opportunities for chapters in the Ag-Tech space.

Why is this important? Though some may consider agriculture as “low-tech,” those of us in Agricultural Education know our industry is “high-tech.” Student delegates and industry leaders encouraged National FFA to elevate and highlight cutting-edge technology in agriculture. We will provide an experience at convention that helps students envision the future of agriculture and their place in this future. Expect students to learn about new careers, the latest technology, and the most important problems industry leaders and influencers are trying to solve.

Check out the presenters, interactive booth topics, and a mock-up design of the room on the Blue Room webpage
