Vacancy- Eisenhower High School Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor

Ashley Austin’s husband is pursuing a career in Kansas and they will be relocating over the summer. As she puts it “let my loss be your gain”.

Decatur Andreas Ag Academy is hiring for a full time agriculture teacher and FFA advisor that will join the ranks of two other Ag teachers and will be a part of the Three Circle Grant. The Ag Academy will have 340 students in the fall between the two schools and is funded by a 1.5 million dollar grant from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Eisenhower is currently constructing a greenhouse, is in the initial stages of installing a rooftop garden, and has two tower gardens in the classroom. The Ag Academy shares a school barn, which Ashley plans to still run a show team out of over the summer, and 15 acres of garden space that Andrew Klein is developing into a fully functioning CSA. Summer work will be supported by two undergraduate Ag Education Interns and student farm hands who are funded by the CSA. Current classes taught include Intro to Ag (CASE AFNR), Basic Ag Science, Dual Credit Horticulture through Richland Community College, and Agriculture Business. Eisenhower High School students are 1:1 and teachers are 2:1 with Macbooks and iPads. Eisenhower is an Apple School, but teachers are promoted to use whatever online learning platforms engage students and work for them. This program has the potential for incredible growth and can be directed towards the successful candidate’s strengths.

To Apply for the job please create an account on  the following link and select Ag teacher.
