CONVENTION TIP of the DAY for Friday, June 7, 2019 - How to be a GREAT Delegate & Reminders

Ever found yourself wondering what to tell your students about serving Illinois FFA as a GREAT delegate and Representative of your FFA Chapter?  It is such an amazing opportunity to vote on issues and officer candidates, very few other states still elect by votes from their membership.

Remind your delegates about what an amazing opportunity this is and follow these six simple tips:

  1. Review the Major State Officer Candidate Resume book (either on the web app or in the paper book at the convention). Have them take time to learn about the Candidates to make informed and intelligent decisions.
  2. Please remind them to pay attention during the Business and Elections Sessions so they can make appropriate motions, 2nds and be prepared to make informed decisions.
  3. Mentioning decisions, remind them of the impact of their decisions and take the role as a delegate seriously.
  4. Seriously, ask them to keep their cell phones put away during the elections sessions.
  5. Last but not at all least - DO NOT KEEP OR DAMAGE the clickers.  All clickers come with and have been checked for their appropriate bar code sticker.  If ANY delegate returns a clicker with the bar code missing, that school will be charged the price of the clicker.  When clickers are returned to the company without bar codes, it costs Illinois FFA $50.00 per clicker returned without the sticker.  Please be VERY careful with the clickers.  Thank you!
  6. ENJOY the process, it's an amazing opportunity, we are very fortunate that our FFA members have power in every vote they cast, it's democracy at its' finest.
