From the Illinois Association FFA constitution:  Section C  Dues 1. Annual state membership dues shall be fixed by the State Executive Committee, subject to approval by a majority vote of the delegates present at the Illinois State FFA Convention and shall remain the same until changed by the delegates at a subsequent convention.

The Illinois FFA Board, after diligent review of the survey results that 149 Illinois ag teachers completed and feedback from many FFA advisors, approved optional affiliate membership structure for Illinois FFA chapters.  Once again, this opportunity is completely optional for FFA chapters to sign up for.  Optional affiliation will be available for the 2017-2018 school year.  The affiliation structure will be shared after the dues proposal vote at the State FFA Convention.

The Illinois FFA Board also approved a District fee of $10.00 per chapter to be implemented beginning with the 2017 - 2018 school year.  The district fees will be used by each district to conduct their district activities.

2.  National FFA Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to all of the Illinois FFA members that have been awarded a scholarship through National FFA.  Click here to view those winners. The total amount awarded to Illinois FFA members is $149,750, a remarkable accomplishment by your students.  Great job!  Congratulations!

3. Camp Registration

Leadership Camp registration is now open.  Click here to register your members for Camp.  For an informational flyer to share with your students/parents about camp, please click here

Tentatively, each chapter has ONE space (including Alumni scholarship winners) reserved for their campers until June 1, 2017.  After June 1, any remaining openings will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration will close when all available spaces are full.  If you have more than one student that wants to attend, send in a registration and payment for all those members prior to June 1, 2017.  That way, the additional students have a greater chance at being accepted to attend camp once we begin filling vacancies on June 2, 2017.

6.  Cooperative Youth Conference set for June 8-9 - DEADLINE had been EXTENDED to April 28, 2017!

Contact:  Karen Jones,, 309-557-6184

Cooperative Youth Conference set for June 8-9, 2017

The 2017 Illinois Cooperative Council Youth Conference will be held June 8-9 on the campus of Western Illinois University. High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors are provided a unique opportunity to learn about the cooperative business model. Generous cooperatives from across the state provide sponsorships to offset housing and meal costs, allowing students to attend at no personal expense.

Students learn about the seven cooperative principles and benefits of a cooperative, as well as governance and operation. They also participate in a field trip to see cooperatives in action. Workshops are led by experienced cooperative employees who provide students with insight into important qualities of all types of cooperatives. They also experience a taste of college life by staying in the dorms and relaxing at the student recreation center.

A registration form is available at and students should register by April 28, 2017. A $30 deposit is required, and will be refunded when the student arrives at the conference. Teacher in-service training is also provided for agriculture instructors who bring students to the conference.

The conference is coordinated by the Illinois Cooperative Council, the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, and WIU’s College of Agriculture. The conference rotates between WIU and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale each year to allow students from across the state the opportunity to attend. More information about the Illinois Cooperative Council is available at
