2018 Downstate Illinois ECET2: Breaking Down Silos, Building Strong Networks| RSVP Today!

Tuesday, January 02, 2018

Sent to All Teachers

Sent on behalf of the Illinois ECET2 Planning Team. This event is open to all teachers. Feel free to share with others in your school districts.

On behalf of the downstate Illinois ECET2 planning team, we are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for downstate Illinois educators to participate in a two-day learning experience designed by teachers, for teachers. This is a chance to connect with fellow educators, share ideas and stories, and reclaim the joy in their teaching practice!

What is ECET2? The Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) network provides a forum for exceptional teachers to learn from one another and to celebrate the teaching profession. These convenings harness the power of teacher leader networks to deepen learning and to improve the teaching practice to better serve students. ECET2 is built on the belief that teachers hold the keys to ensuring that policy is well-informed, instructional shifts are made with fidelity, and educators are equipped with the right professional development supports to be effective in the classroom.

At this year’s convening, teachers will have the opportunity to learn about ESSA, Title II funding, and the skills necessary to advocate for meaningful professional development. Teachers will also participate in teacher-led workshops in high-demand subject areas. Holding a convening for downstate Illinois teachers by downstate Illinois teachers in downstate Illinois will create a unique opportunity for teachers to begin to etch out a professional network with other like-minded teachers who operate so far apart geographically.

When and Where: Sunday and Monday, February 18-19, 2018 in Alton, Illinois

Who: We are asking teachers in your district to attend this convening. You can register individually, or bring a team of four from your district. We are looking for teachers who exhibit the following:

·        Investment in the students of downstate Illinois

·        Investment in the school community

·        Pride in the profession and pride in their school

·        Positive attitude toward students and their ability to learn

·        Passion about subject matter and pedagogy

·        Team player mentality

To encourage teachers, we are offering this experience at no cost for teachers. Costs covered by ECET2 are food and hotel.

Register today! February 18 & 19 Downstate Illinois ECET2
