D1 Vacancy - Sterling High School Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

To All Contacts:

Sterling High School, located in northeastern Whiteside County, and in IAVAT Section 2, is seeking a full-time Agriculture teacher & FFA Advisor for the 2018-2019 school year, which will be the third year of their new program.  A successful middle school agriculture program, taught by Julie LeFevre, already supports the growing high school program.

Courses to be taught may include: Introduction to the Agriculture Industry, Environmental Science & Wildlife Management, Agricultural Communications & Leadership, Agricultural Business & Management, BSAA – Plant & Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Agricultural Biotechnology.  Some classes are taught on a rotational basis and may be adjusted to the strengths of the successful candidate.

Facilities include: Lab Classroom – Each classroom has an Apple TV and 42” flat screen for projecting lessons.  Sterling High School is a 1:1 MacBook school with a strong technology infrastructure. 

Contract length: Our teacher contract is a 9-month contract.  In addition, the teacher will be given a stipend for serving as the FFA advisor. 

The successful candidate will hold a 6-12 Professional Educator License and endorsements in agricultural education.  An endorsement to teach science classes is encouraged, but not required.
