**Reminder these questions are designed to use with the on-line version of FarmWeek.

Note, by request of teachers we have included the answers to the questions immediately following the questions.

View from the cab; Off to the faces with Edgar County FB president

  1.  Aaron Phillips, President of the Edgar County Farm Bureau and a farmer from Chrisman, IL is featured in this story.  Describe the location of Edgar County from your school. (Edgar County is located in East Central Illinois on the Indiana border, south and east of Champaign.  Answers will vary.)
  2. Describe the overall Illinois April 2018 weather.  (April 2018 was the second coldest on record and several areas of the state had record snowfall in April.)
  3. Although weather conditions in May have been outstanding for planting both corn and soybeans, what concern is still hanging for many areas of the state? (Soil moisture continues to be low, moderate precipitation would be welcome in most areas. )
  4. Phillips points out that Illinois Farmers can plant ‘unbelievably fast’.  What specific advances can you attribute to the ways farmers plant in 2018.  (answers will vary)
  5. Phillips is serving in his first year as President of the Edgar County Farm Bureau.  His father also served as the President of Edgar County Farm Bureau.  What does this form of continued family service say about Illinois Farm Families?  (Answers will vary)

Be sure to check out the Crop Watcher section to see updates on planting conditions in your area.
