Anticipated Vacancy- Gibson City-Melvin- Sibley Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor

Anticipated opening at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Unit #5 District, located in Ford County, Section 17, for a full-time Agriculture Education Instructor and FFA advisor for the 2018-2019 school year.   Courses to be taught include: Introduction to Agriculture, Agriculture Science, Agriculture Business, Horticulture, and BSAA.  This position also includes the duty of being the FFA Chapter Advisor as well as an extended contract with required summer work hours.

 Qualifications: IL Type 09 certificate with appropriate endorsement.  Excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of current "Best Practice" teaching methods, student centered teacher with a positive attitude and the ability to establish effective rapport with students. Must be able to demonstrate the use of creative and engaging techniques in the effective instruction of Agriculture Education.  Superior communication and leadership skills, a positive outlook and the willingness to work as part of a team are essential.

Salary and benefits:  Per negotiated agreement including, individual health insurance with dental and vision coverage. An extended contract with required summer work hours is also provided.  Last year GCMS participated in the 3 Circle Grant and plans to next year as well.
