Champaign County Farm Bureau Foundation

Position: Director, Earth Partners
Reports To: Executive Director, Champaign County Farm Bureau Foundation
Location: Champaign, IL


The Champaign County Farm Bureau Foundation provides educational opportunities which impact the future of the food and agricultural industry throughout Champaign County, and around the world.  The Director of Earth Partners is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of all the Foundation’s Earth Partners, Agriculture in the Classroom, Programs.


Programming: (Approximately 70%)
Goal: To provide meaningful interactions for students in the county

  • Using the materials provided, develop a scope and sequence for the year to be in the classrooms in the county teaching agriculture to students of elementary levels.
  • Adapt and update curriculum as needed
  • Maintain learning kits and educational resources for appropriate programs
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Earth Partners Committee to identify opportunities for partnerships and follow up with their introductions
  • Develop community outreach (i.e., after school programs, public libraries)
  • Oversee the management of the annual Illinois Ag In the Classroom (IAITC) Grant
    • Results
    • Budget
    • Future Plan
  • Develop structure for Earth Partners Internship program
  • Develop and implement annual strategic plan for Earth Partners
    • Lead the initiative to seek and promote new opportunities

Outreach: (Approximately 15%)
Goal: Community awareness and engagement

  • Establish new and foster existing relationships within the community so as to bring awareness of agriculture
    • Schools (public, private, parochial)
    • Higher education (junior college, universities
    • Non-profits
    • Civic organizations
    • Ag-related industries
    • Non-ag related industries
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Earth Partners committee, identify opportunities for enhancing programs, such as Ag Day through Social Media or other outlets.
  • Attend Foundation events as well as other pertinent Farm Bureau sponsored events
    • The purpose is to foster relationships, create awareness, and identify opportunities for adult education around agriculture
  • Maintain involvement in partnering organizations and identify new partnership opportunities.

Administrative: (Approximately 15%)

  • Budget:
    • Monitor and be accountable for the Earth Partners Budget
    • Identify additional programs and corresponding budgets to grow the program
  • Grants
    • Regularly identify grant opportunities
    • In partnership with the Executive Director, write and apply for grants.
    • Serve as the administrator of the grant, including tracking, achieving and reporting results
  • Coordinate volunteers and interns
  • Monthly reports
    • Track monthly programming activity
    • Submit report to the CCFB Foundation, Earth Partners Committee and Illinois Farm Burea Ag in the Classroom
  • Resources
    • Serve as the administrator of resources, materials and information on agriculture

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Agriculture experience or basic agriculture knowledge required
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to professionally manage relationships
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with basic computer software
  • Occasional evening, weekend, and light travel is involved
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance have a satisfactory driving record
  • May be required to pass a criminal background check
