Position     Agriculture Teacher & Co-FFA Advisor

Description     West Carroll High School is seeking a highly-qualified and ambitious agriculture instructor and FFA Advisor to replace the retiring Dan Hartman for the 2019-2020 school year. West Carroll High School is located in the town of Savanna, Illinois Carroll County in northwest Illinois. The new teacher will work with Don Mathey. The West Carroll agriculture program currently serves 120 students and has 100% FFA membership with those students. The program has an active calendar of events and has a history of success ranking as a gold emblem chapter 13 of the last 14 years. The chapter is also very competitive in CDE competition and averages around 10 State FFA Degree candidates and 10 Section #1 proficiency award winners each year. The chapter also holds the state record high school sponsored blood drive collecting 173 units of blood. West Carroll is a 1-1 school with teachers and students being issued laptops.  Courses to be taught will be determined by the selected candidates strengths. Courses offered today include: Introduction to Agriculture, Agriculture Science, Ag Business Management, Ag Leadership & Communication, Wildlife/Landscape Management, Welding, Basic Electricity, Ag Construction (Woodworking, Welding, Small Gas Engines & Surveying) and Pre-Vet Science. Candidates with experiences in welding and woodworking are preferred, but not required.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the CBA held by the local teachers union. The position includes a 9-month contract with an FFA advisor stipend of 4% of base salary.
